The first post I am writing is about the changes I have witnessed going on around the Mile High City. I have been living here since the 70’s, and I will tell you, things have changed. Some good, some bad. It seems like we are not a cowboy town anymore. I can remember always hearing about how “small” Denver is compared to other big cities in the country. The image of saloons and tumbleweeds is what came to mind when listening to others speaking like that. People only came here to ski. Aspen, that’s where the place to be in Colorado was. Well…nowadays it seems everybody wants marijuana or craft beer. The marijuana legalization I’m not a big fan of, but the craft beer…who doesn’t like beer? I don’t know much about the craft beer industry, but I know plenty of people who do. There is a new Breckenridge Brewery just down the road from me, and it brings in the tourists. I believe both industries have strengthened the economy, as well as all the tech companies moving into Boulder. Unemployment is under 2.5% last I heard, and gentrification is improving older, worn down areas. I love the fact that we have strong businesses and property values, investments in the city, good restaurants and the Broncos. I just hope we don’t get too big. It might already be too late.
